The teacher introduces the lesson by making the point that we’ve been learning that the mind is the gateway to stress and that Much of our stress comes from our perceptions about events and our habit of thinking that stress or unpleasant experiences just need to go away.

By means of exploring the word practice at this point in the lesson, students are guided to make the connection between doing things mindlessly and strengthening habits that can become ingrained because we practice them a lot.
