Compassion 51
Compassion practices involve the specific and intentional cultivation of wholesome qualities of mind;
We may direct kindness or compassion toward oneself or others.
A commitment to our own wellbeing is a foundation for connection to others.
So, for example, Loving-Kindness practice includes the wish for peacefulness, happiness, wellbeing, etc. for oneself but also for a friend, an acquaintance, and even someone who has hurt us or causes us difficulty. LK can be also extended to all living things.
There are other practices in this family, but compassion overall involves the wish to alleviate suffering and a sense of concern about the needs of others.
