Mindfulness offers a fundamentally different way to deal with stressful experience. 44
Obviously, there’s something very different about the mindfulness approach to suffering. Instead of automatically and reactively trying to change the experience itself, often with quick fixes that don’t really do us any good in the long run, we practice a new way of relating to our experience.
Instead of changing the experience to suit ourselves and rejecting what’s right in front of us, we change our relationship to the experience, by acknowledging and being open to what’s happening, even if it’s not something pleasant.
